Discover the elite microscopy potential of Albino Penis Envy, one of the most visually stunning and genetically advanced Psilocybe cubensis strains available. Delivered in our isolated spore syringe format, APE is prized for its dense, slow-developing mycelium and unique spore structures. For microscopy and research use only.

🧬 Albino Penis Envy (APE) – A Mutation Worth Studying

The Albino Penis Envy, often abbreviated as APE, is an iconic variety of Psilocybe cubensis that combines two legendary traits: the mutant genetics of Penis Envy and the leucistic (albino-like) characteristics of albino strains.

Originally developed by crossing the classic Penis Envy with Albino PF, APE has been refined over many generations into a rare and powerful genetic lineage. Its spores are uniquely translucent to lightly pigmented, making them a rare treat for microscopic research.

Microscopically, APE spores are less pigmented and harder to view than typical cubensis, but they reveal fascinating slow-developing mycelium that is dense and structured. Under the microscope, researchers often note the thicker hyphal knots and compact colonization behavior in simulated environments.

  • Light Microscopy: Analyze spore size, ornamentation, and wall thickness for taxonomic comparison.

  • Dark-Field & Phase Contrast: Observe spore viability and germ-pore activity without chemical staining.

  • Genetic Barcoding (PCR): Extract DNA for ITS rDNA sequencing to compare regional variants.

  • Educational Demonstrations: Safe demonstration of Basidiomycete morphology in collegiate labs.

Storage & Handling

  • Keep refrigerated at 2 – 8 °C.

  • Allow to warm to room temperature before use to minimize condensation.

  • Agitate gently to disperse spores evenly; avoid creating bubbles that can trap contaminants.

  • Use within 12 months for best viability.
